Government understands that fooling all the people some of the time and some of the people all of the time is sufficient in controlling and manipulating most of the people, most of the time.
Jim Mullen

Government calculates that if a twelve ounce hammer is good for driving a finishing nail, a ten pound sledge should be just about right. This explains just about everything that is wrong with government.
Jim Mullen
Death Tax Most people know remarkably little - or even care about - the estate tax, or death tax as some refer to this ghoulish money grab by politicians. A vote could come as early as today in the House permanently extending the top rate of 45% (it could be higher) on estates larger than $3.5 million. Liberals justify this stealing by the federal government of almost half of an estate, family business or family farm. This tax, in many cases, results in the loss of businesses or family farms and job losses in the community. House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, D-Md., said it would affect only the wealthiest Americans. It is a case study in liberalism to take the approach that anything goes if Congress considers a person wealthy. Since there will be a small minority of people affected, politicians reason they may appropriate (steal) the assets of certain Americans and use it to distribute to others they feel are more deserving. Government will confiscate businesses and farms handed down through generations of hard work, sacrifice, and entrepreneurship. The value is not in an annual income; rather it is in the land, structures or a name built with pride by someone's desire to pass it along to future generations in their family. People forced to pay these excessive taxes, may be forced to sell the assets, thereby losing the business or farm. The heavy, greedy hand of government has the attitude that all wealth, income, property and land belong to government and that they are benevolent enough to allow you to use it and keep a portion of the profits for a time. This tax is worse than the crime of grave robbing. At least grave robbers do not steal from the living heirs of the deceased. Politicians who vote for these taxes have no shame and somehow lost their moral compass once they smelled that sweet aroma of Washington power. Tyranny is a virus that spreads through a country one class at a time. Will you be the next selected group to feel the hammer of the federal government? Who will stand with you when government decides to take your property or liberty? When Obama and this congress finish stealing from businesses, will there be any geese left to lay the golden egg of job creation that have made this country the envy of the world? Poor people will provide few job seekers decent-paying jobs. This Congress and Obama have the intention of installing a totalitarian regime to "fundamentally change our country" and change our way of life – the American way of life. This is but one of the foundation blocks this regime is laying in their attempt to destroy our Constitution. If we do not find the time to unite and fight these tyrants, we certainly will find the time to grieve for our beloved country when it has faded into the past and becomes but a footnote in the grand story of time.

One of the most unfortunate human conditions is a failure to learn from our mistakes. When governments fail to learn from their mistakes and refuse to enforce the law, people die.
The 9/11 attacks revealed countless weak links in the chain of our national security – some small and some large. The common thread running through all, however, was that these weak links were all well-known and publicized before the attacks and ignored by our government. This whole disaster would not have occurred had the cockpit doors been locked and Visa and immigration laws been enforced.
We spend billions of dollars sending our young men to die defending borders around the world; then billions more trampling the rights of our own citizens in a futile defense of a terrorist attack already logged into the annals of history. As usual, government is several disasters behind and their response to everything is creating another massive bureaucracy and restricting the rights of American citizens.
Congress and President Bush, and now, President Obama would rather use smoke and mirrors by increasing the size of an unwieldy and ineffective bureaucracy that finds more value in frisking mature women at airports and relieving them of their nail clippers, than concentrating on preventing future attacks by protecting our borders and enforcing immigration laws.
Everyone knows our weakness, including our enemies. Millions of illegal immigrants are still invading. Despite warnings, our government, in all its arrogance – continues to ignore the enforcement of our laws to curb the invasion. Politicians cave in to the avarice for cheap labor by business and exhibit a complete lack of common sense by bowing to the political correctness of the liberals in the Democrat and the Republican parties. It has become politically incorrect to mention illegal aliens.
The federal government has the sole responsibility of protecting our borders from invasion. We simply cannot allow this lawlessness to continue. There are legal means for entry and immigration to this country. Our policy and the numbers allowed are some of the most liberal in the world. We must enforce our border laws, or we will become another third-world country, unable to provide for our own citizens or maintain any semblance of law and order. Let’s embrace and implement the immigration policies of Mexico. They have some of the most stringent laws in the world.
Does anyone truly believe we will not pay another terrible price if we, again, fail to heed the warnings and learn from our past mistakes? One day at a time and one disaster after another will sooner or later bring us to another disaster. Washington will once again use it as another reason to control us…not the real problem.
Of course, Obama’s perfect objective is to wave his magic liberal wand and declare all illegal aliens as legal. Presto, problem solved!

What freedom means
By Jim Mullen
The word freedom stirs different passions in the hearts of the American people today when in comparison to the past. The word has almost become a cliché among certain groups of Americans. Many of us wave the flag and reflect kindly on our Forefathers for their sacrifices in giving us the freedom we have, nevertheless, many of our citizens are complicit with the government in the abridgment and seizure of many basic personal rights that have made us unique in the history of the world.
Freedom is more than a word; it is an attitude. An attitude of independent thought and rugged individualism brought here and nurtured by men from countries contaminated by centuries of religious persecution, economic depression, repressive governments, and scorn for any concept of freethinking and individual rights. Most did not come here with riches; furthermore, they did not expect the government to give them riches. They asked only for the fertile ground of opportunity and independence. This alone would enable them to achieve anything their abilities and hard work would allow.
It is becoming increasingly more difficult to maintain the struggle for our freedom. With our blessings, career politicians feeding at the government trough, have corrupted our political system. They have no qualms about taking our money and selling our freedom for votes. They regale in people who cannot handle freedom and the responsibilities that go with it and thrive on those who feel more secure in allowing someone else to make their decisions and take care of their needs.
One such woman recently called a statewide radio talk show and exclaimed, “Our government gives us way too many freedoms!” She is typical of a growing number of Americans, who believe government gives us our freedoms. The Constitution guarantees our freedoms. Conversely, government only takes them away, and only we can protect and preserve them.
The Constitution clearly spells out the Federal Government’s role and its limitations in our Republic. The Bill of Rights spells out our independence from the government, but each time we allow politicians to take more money or enact more laws, our rights diminish and government’s power enhanced. When we resist, they pit class against class, race against race, and rich against poor - telling each group how dangerous it would be for the others to have freedom and how much more secure everyone would be if we gave up a few more rights. Politicians convince people they can better spend their money by promising equal results over equal opportunity.
Freedom at times is quite untidy and weeds will grow among the roses. However, if we use the Constitution as our guide, we will know what to pull and what to leave in our garden of America.
America has been the beacon of light in a dark and
dangerous world. In summary, if we do not return to the Constitution and hold our
leaders accountable, our best years may be behind us. Remember,
Obama promises "to fundamentally change" this country and he is just
beginning!

What we are witnessing in our country is the raping of America and the burning of our Constitution. With the majority of Americans screaming no, no, no, to government run healthcare, our protestations were ignored. We were forced to submit to an all-powerful government hell bent on having its way with the American people because it can. Obama and the Democrats tried everything to silence our cries by demeaning, using threats, scorn, and finally just dismissing our pleas and cooing, "Just relax and try it... you will love it." Ultimately, they did the only thing the federal government is proficient at: Exercising dominance over the citizens of our Republic.
We will see this same scenario replayed over and over this year with illegal immigration, Cap and Trade, education, more pork barrel projects and every other liberal-progressive scheme they can ram through before the November elections. They know it will be the last chance for them to impose their radical agenda before the people clean house in the fall.
Damn the Constitution and full speed ahead and ignore the will of the citizenry is their cry. It is all-out war against the American people, so bribery, threats and lies are acceptable in the implementation of their goal; a complete Socialist State. Obama and the Progressive-Democrats lie with impunity, steal without remorse, cheat with abandonment, and shred the Constitution without shame. They are laying the foundation for a total federal government takeover of business, healthcare, education and commerce. Washington will control every aspect of our lives directly, or by the bureaucracy they assign, and will be the unconstrained and unlimited authority in every American life.
Pelosi and Reid are, without a doubt, the most extreme lawmakers to hold leadership positions in the United States Congress in the history of our Republic. Their Left Wing agenda is well known, and their contempt for the Constitution is legendary. They lie so effortlessly and with such extraordinary skill one wonders what keeps their faces from exploding.
It is no accident that the taxing for this program will develop promptly, and the benefits delayed for four years. They get a four-year jump on revenue; thus, their prediction is for a budget surplus after ten years. Obviously, after that, there will be enormous deficits and larger tax increases. This is another government program that will go broke, just as all federal programs eventually go broke.
The real travesty of this "healthcare" bill is that it will cause shortages of doctors, hospitals, medical equipment and everything associated with healthcare. Job losses and massive tax increases - overt and covert - will result in higher prices for everything we buy. We will endure long lines and waiting times to receive services, which will result in unnecessary suffering and death for thousands of Americans.
Smiling to the point of idiocy, Pelosi, Reid and Obama think this is a historic moment for our country. Historic? Maybe. Tragic? Positively! They have shown their pernicious contempt for the American people and our Constitution. Stay tuned for more of the same.

Oh, the horrors...
Dems take it on the cheek
Jim Mullen
A few short months ago, the politicians and bureaucrats released a homeland security brief warning the federal government and law enforcement agencies to keep a watchful eye on the young men and women returning home from fighting in wars initiated by politicians. These young people, the government announced, have the potential to be violent, could exhibit anti-government behavior and, therefore, should be placed on the terrorist watch list.
This stunning announcement came from a group of greedy, corrupt, and arrogant elites who fight all of their wars in smoke-filled, backrooms in the dead of night or their plush, taxpayer-funded offices. It is easy to feel arrogant when protected by men and women in uniform and when you rarely get a challenge from the lapdog, compliant media.
The feeling of power becomes addictive, and it is easy to remain smug when enacting or implementing legislation that rips money and freedom from one group of Americans to give to another. When not held in check and watched carefully by the citizenry it becomes easier to usurp more power than is allowed by the Constitution, and enact laws that apply to the great-unwashed masses but not to lawmakers. Temptations abound; back scratching, palm-greasing, corruption at every turn. Every meeting, cocktail party and fundraiser open and end with promises that will eventually result in government picking winners and losers.
Lawmakers are all so full of courage when nestling in their comfy leather chairs. Yet, they cower in fear or run and hide when they must remove their feet from their well-appointed desks and walk among the common people. Meeting with their own constituents who demand to be heard, fills them with fear. Could these be the reasons politicians and bureaucrats fear the Veterans, who fought and placed everything on the line for their country?
The nearest thing to combat most of these political blowhards has ever seen was charging behind their strutting House leader as she marched triumphantly through a crowd of angry American citizens. She carried her giant gavel, symbolically used to bludgeon the Democrats into submission. One Congressman may be awarded the Purple Heart for injuries received when struck by an errant drop of spittle. Several other brave souls are claiming Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder due to the extraordinarily brutish behavior of these redneck taxpayers. Crowds yelling and waving signs at these poor public servants was more than the faint of heart should ever have to experience. Oh, the horrors of it all! The inhumanity!
First, it was fear of the militant U.S. Veterans, now it is fear of the Tea Party movement and all the rest of that animated American constituency who pay the bills. It is of little wonder these politicians look over their shoulders. Their fear, however, should be of that day of accountability drawing nigh. This feigned outrage is just their way of marginalizing and stifling dissent.
It is but a few months away until judgment day. Remember in November, and thank a Vet, today!
Oaths of office
President of the United States (Executive Branch)
According to the 20th Amendment to the Constitution, a President's term of office begins at 12:00 p.m. (noon) on January 20th of the year following an election. In order to assume his/her duties, the President-elect must recite the Oath of Office. The Oath is administered by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. The President-elect places his hand on the Bible, raises his right hand, and takes the Oath as directed by the Chief Justice. The Oath, as stated in Article II, Section I, Clause 8 of the U.S. Constitution, is as follows:
"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."
Vice President of the United States (Executive Branch)
The Vice President also takes an oath of office. Until 1933, the Vice President took the oath of office in the Senate. Today, both the President and Vice President are inaugurated in the same ceremony. The Vice President's oath is administered immediately before the President's. The Vice President's oath may be administered by the retiring vice president, by a member of Congress, or by some other government official, such as a justice of the Supreme Court. The Vice President's oath is as follows:
"I do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic, that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same: that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion, and I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God."
Members of Congress (Legislative Branch)
At the start of each new Congress, in January of every odd-numbered year, the entire House of Representatives and one-third of the Senate takes an oath of office. The Speaker of the House will direct the Members to rise and the oath is administered. The original oath was as follows: "I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support the Constitution of the United States."
The oath was revised during the Civil War, when members of Congress were concerned about traitors. The current oath is as follows:
"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God."
Supreme Court Justices (Judicial Branch)
According to Title 28, Chapter I, Part 453 of the United States Code, each Supreme Court Justice takes the following oath:
"I, [NAME], do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will administer justice without respect to persons, and do equal right to the poor and to the rich, and that I will faithfully and impartially discharge and perform all the duties incumbent upon me as [TITLE] under the Constitution and laws of the United States. So help me God.''

Another week, another big disastrous bill being rammed through Congress.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi plans to bring the House-Senate conference
report on the Financial Regulation bill to a final vote in the next few
days. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid plans to follow quickly with a
Senate vote so that President Obama can sign this monstrosity into law
before the Fourth of July.
The Dodd-Frank Financial Regulation bill is huge. It has hundreds of
provisions—some good and some bad. However, we think that some of the
bad provisions are so dangerous that they far outweigh the good parts of
the bill.
The larger issue behind this legislation is this: Do you believe that
unelected, unaccountable regulators under the President will do a better
job of—
1. Deciding which companies should be shut down or nationalized without
recourse to bankruptcy, as the Treasury Department and the Federal
Reserve would be able to do under this bill?
2. Deciding how easily progressive interest groups—from Big Labor to
radical animal rights groups—would be able to get their people onto the
ballots of corporations’ boards, as the SEC would determine?
3. Deciding which creditors to rescue and which to punish when a company goes under, as the FDIC would do?
4. Deciding which financial institutions will pay a new $19 billion tax, as a council of regulators would do under this bill?
Who should make these decisions: regulators or an elected, accountable
Congress? Will Congress delegate their responsibility away and give us a
business environment that is subject to arbitrary and capricious
decisions by regulators?
The Constitution in Article 1 states, “All legislative Powers herein
granted shall be vested in a Congress of the United States.” Executive
branch agencies should be given specific criteria to guide them in
filling out the details of laws passed by Congress. Barring such clear
guidelines, government agencies will play Grim Reaper. And selective
enforcement does not lead to a stable business environment.
Freedom Action therefore urges you to click here and send an e-mail to
your Members of Congress immediately to tell them to vote No on the
Financial Regulation bill. Currently, there are not the required 60
votes to pass the bill in the Senate. And it's not clear that there is
still a majority for it in the House.
That means that every e-mail and call to Capitol Hill can make a difference. Please click here!
Last week, the House narrowly passed, 219 to 206, the DISCLOSE Act to
regulate political speech. THANK YOU to the thousands of Freedom Action
members who told their Representatives to vote No on this blatantly
unconstitutional abridgement of the first amendment right to free
speech. 217 Democrats and 2 Republicans voted Yes. 170 Republicans and
36 Democrats voted No. You can click here, scroll down, and enter your
zipcode to see how your Representative voted last Thursday. We hope that
the DISCLOSE Act has now been been made so controversial by the public
outcry against it that the Senate will not be able to pass it. But we'll
keep you posted if (when?) action is needed to stop it in the Senate!
Thanks again. (You can make comments on this email here.)

From John Stossel
"I know that more guns means -- hold onto your seat -- less crime. How can that be, when guns kill almost 30,000 Americans a year? Because while we hear about the murders and accidents, we don't often hear about the crimes stopped because would-be victims showed a gun and scared criminals away. Those thwarted crimes and lives saved usually aren't reported to police (sometimes for fear the gun will be confiscated), and when they are reported, the media tend to ignore them. No bang, no news. This state of affairs produces a distorted public impression of guns. If you only hear about the crimes and accidents, and never about lives saved, you might think gun ownership is folly. But, hey, if guns save lives, it logically follows that gun laws cost lives. ... Today, 40 states issue permits to competent, law-abiding adults to carry concealed handguns (Vermont and Alaska have the most libertarian approach: no permit needed. Arizona is about to join that exclusive club.) Every time a carry law was debated, anti-gun activists predicted outbreaks of gun violence after fender-benders, card games and domestic quarrels. What happened? John Lott, in 'More Guns, Less Crime,' explains that crime fell by 10 percent in the year after the laws were passed. A reason for the drop in crime may have been that criminals suddenly worried that their next victim might be armed. ... McDonald v. Chicago is the big one, and the Supreme Court is expected to rule on that [this] week. Otis McDonald is a 76-year-old man who lives in a dangerous neighborhood on Chicago's South Side. He wants to buy a handgun, but Chicago forbids it. If the Supremes say McDonald has that right, then restrictive gun laws will fall throughout America. ... [S]triking down those laws will probably save lives." --columnist John Stossel

Geologist: Global Cooling Has Begun
A prominent American geologist declares that global warming has ended and “even more harmful” global cooling has already begun.
Dr. Don Easterbrook, Emeritus Professor at Western Washington University,
delivered that warning in a scientific paper he presented to the 4th
International Conference on Climate Change in Chicago on May 16.
Dr. Easterbrook said the earth has consistently shifted between periods
of warming and cooling over the course of thousands of years.
There were cooling periods between 1880 and 1915, and between 1945 and
1977, and warming periods from 1915 to 1945 and from 1977 to 1998,
according to Dr. Easterbrook, and temperatures have been cooling since
1998.
Easterbrook is the author of eight books and 150 journal publications.
He serves as associate editor of the Geological Society of America
Bulletin, and was U.S. representative to the UNESCO [United Nations
Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization] International
Geological Correlation Project.
He writes in his paper:
“That global warming is over, at least for a few decades, might seem to
be a relief. However, the bad news is that global cooling is even more
harmful to humans than global warming and a cause for even greater
concern.”
According to Easterbrook, a recent study showed that twice as many people are killed by extreme cold than by extreme heat.
Global cooling will have an adverse effect on food production because of
shorter growing seasons, cooler growing seasons, and bad weather during
harvest seasons, he said.
“This is already happening in the Midwestern U.S., China, India, and
other places in the world. Hardest hit will be third world countries
where millions are already near starvation levels.”
Cooling will also lead to an increase in per capita energy demands, especially for heating.
“World population is projected to reach more than 9 billion by 2050, an
increase of 50 percent,” Easterbrook pointed out. “This means a
substantial increase in demand for food and energy at a time when both
are decreasing because of the cooling climate.”
Among Dr. Easterbrook’s conclusions:
“Numerous, abrupt, short-lived warming and cooling episodes, much more
intense than recent warming/cooling, occurred during the last Ice Age,
none of which could have been caused by changes in atmospheric CO2.
“Climate changes in the geologic record show a regular pattern of
alternate warming and cooling with a 25-30-year period for the past 500
years . . .
“Expect global cooling for the next 2-3 decades that will be far more damaging than global warming would have been.”

For all the focus on the historic federal rescue of the
banking industry, it is the government’s decision to seize Fannie Mae
and Freddie Mac in September 2008 that reportedly is likely to cost
taxpayers the most money.
So far the tab stands at $145.9 billion and rising, the New York Times
reports.
The Congressional Budget Office has predicted that the final bill could
reach $389 billion.
Some analysts even estimate the total may reach $1 trillion, which Sean
Egan, president of Egan-Jones Ratings, recently told Bloomberg is “a
reasonable worst-case scenario."
Egan told Bloomberg that the final tally could hit $1 trillion assuming a
20 percent loss on the companies' more than $5 trillion in loans and
guarantees, similar to what other big mortgage companies, like
Countrywide Financial, suffered.
The two government-sponsored enterprises (GSEs) now own more houses than
there are in Seattle and are foreclosing on homeowners whose mortgages
they guaranteed, the Times said.
Fannie and Freddie maintain the houses for a while, then resell them at
a huge loss.
In many cases, they also underwrite the new mortgage for the new buyer,
generating even more bank fees taxpayers must ultimately absorb.
On average, they recoup less than 60 percent of the amount borrowers
failed to pay.
Costs for selling a house generally are usually about $10,000. Fannie
and Freddie hire people to clean up the foreclosed homes inside and out,
replace missing appliances and maintain the properties until they are
sold.
The grass-mowing bill alone is more than $10 million per month; All
told, the GSEs spent more than $1 billion on upkeep last year.
“We may be behind many loans on the same street, so we believe that it’s
in everyone’s best interest to aggressively do property maintenance,”
said Chris Bowden, the Freddie Mac executive in charge of foreclosure
sales.
Short sales are a growing alternative to foreclosure.
In the past, a short sale was an unusual alternative, one real estate
agents rarely presented to sellers, realtor Erek Gass told the York
Daily Report.
“Now, they are common because of the devaluation of the housing market,”
Gass says.

Important message
from Dick Morris to Floridans
| Dear Friend, |
|
Electing Bill McCollum as Florida's next governor is crucial to our efforts to take back America. Florida has twenty-five Congressmen -- more than any state other than California and Texas. Whoever wins this election will control the reapportionment after the 2010 census. How these lines are drawn could effect whether five to ten seats go Democrat or Republican. McCollum, who has served as a distinguished Attorney General of this swing state, is facing a primary contest from an opponent who has made millions in highly questionable billings under the Medicaid and Medicare program. His financial dealings have come under great scrutiny. But he is using his gains to fund a campaign of smear against McCollum. I do not normally make endorsements in primary contests, but I urge everyone to support McCollum in the Florida Governor's race of 2010. And, if you can, please join me at an event for him in Boca Raton on Wednesday, June 23rd. See the invitation below. "Liberty cannot be preserved without a general knowledge among

When
you hear the latest lies rolling from the lips of Obama tonight
concerning the oil spill, remember the truth. Please read this Dick
Morris article.
OBAMA: AN INCOMPETENT EXECUTIVE
By DICK MORRIS & EILEEN MCGANN
Published on http://dickmorris.com on June 14, 2010
Contrary to what the Constitution says, the president does not run the
executive branch of the federal government. It runs itself. Following Newton's
Laws of Motion, it is "a body in motion that tends to remain in motion in
the same direction and at the same speed unless acted upon by an outside
force." The bureaucracy keeps doing what it is programmed to do unless someone
intervenes.
And that intervention is the proper job of the president. He has to step in,
ask the right questions, get inside and outside advice, and decide how to
intervene to move the bureaucracy one way or the other. President Clinton had
an excellent sense of how to do this and when to get involved. President Obama
does not.
When the spill started, he and his campaign staff - now transplanted to the
White House - reacted the way a Senator or a candidate would, blaming British
Petroleum, framing an issue against the oil company, and holding it
accountable. But what he needed to do was to review the plans for coping with
the disaster and intervene to move the bureaucracy in untraditional but more
appropriate directions. Instead, he let business as usual and inertia move the
process.
|
The
president's tardy requests for international assistance and his government's
bureaucratic response to their offers demonstrates his lack of command and
control. The Washington Post reports that the Obama Administration initially
"saw no need to accept offers of state-of-the-art skimmers, miles of
boom or technical assistance from nations around the globe with experience
fighting oil spills." Arrogantly, State Department spokesman Gordon
Duguid told reporters on May 19th "we'll let BP decide what expertise
they do need." |
Now,
when it is too late, the U.S. has finally accepted Canada's offer of 10,000
feet of boom. In late May it took 14,000 feet from Mexico, two skimmers from
Mexico, and skimming systems from Norway and the Netherlands. Too little too
late.
Why
didn't the Administration act sooner?
Bureaucratic obstacles stopped it and the president was not involved or active
enough to sweep them aside.
Coast Guard Lt. Cmdr Christopher T. O'Neil said that "all qualifying
offers of assistance have been accepted." But this bureaucratic-speak did
not mention that the Jones Act - an isolationist law passed in the 1920s that
requires vessels working in American waters to be built and crewed by Americans
- disqualified many of the offers of assistance. But Obama could have waived
the Jones Act whenever he wanted to.
A Norwegian offer of a chemical dispersant was rejected by the EPA - more
bureaucracy.
When Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal sought to create sand berms to keep oil
away from the coastline, the Washington Post reported that he reached out to
"the marine contractor Van Oord and the research institute Deltares...BP
pledged $360 million for the plan, but U.S. dredging companies - which have
less than one-fifth the capacity of Dutch dredging firms -- objected to foreign
companies' participation."
An activist, involved chief executive would have swept aside these impediments
and demanded immediate action. He would have ridden roughshod over bureaucratic
and political objections and gotten the cleanup underway.
But this president is no executive. He is a legislator - he is now pushing new
environmental legislation. He is a lawyer - his Attorney General is
investigating criminal charges against BP. He is a populist - he is quick to
blame BP. He is a big spender - he wants a fund to pay the spill's victims. He
is all of these things. But he is no chief executive and that, unfortunately,
is the job he was elected to do.

If
George W. Bush had been the first President to need a TelePrompTer
installed to be able to get through a press conference, would you have
laughed and said this is more proof of how he inept he is on his own and
is really controlled by smarter men behind the scenes?
If George W. Bush had spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to take Laura Bush to a play in NYC, would you have approved?
If George W. Bush had reduced your retirement plan's holdings of GM
stock by 90% and given the unions a majority stake in GM, would you have
approved?
If George W. Bush had made a joke at the expense of the Special Olympics, would you have approved?
If George W. Bush had given Gordon Brown a set of inexpensive and
incorrectly formatted DVDs, when Gordon Brown had given him a thoughtful
and historically significant gift, would you have approved?
If George W. Bush had given the Queen of England an iPod containing
videos of his speeches, would you have thought this embarrassingly
narcissistic and tacky?
If George W. Bush had bowed to the King of Saudi Arabia, would you have approved?
If George W. Bush had visited Austria and made reference to the
nonexistent "Austrian language," would you have brushed it off as a
minor slip?
If George W. Bush had filled his cabinet and circle of advisers with
people who cannot seem to keep current in their income taxes, would you
have approved?
If George W. Bush had stated that there were 57 states in the United States, would you have said that he is clueless.
If George W. Bush would have flown all the way to Denmark to make a five
minute speech about how the Olympics would benefit him walking out his
front door in Texas, would you have thought he was a self important,
conceited, egotistical jerk.
If George W. Bush had been so Spanish illiterate as to refer to "Cinco
de Cuatro" in front of the Mexican ambassador when it was the 5th of May
(Cinco de Mayo), and continued to flub it when he tried again, would
you have winced in embarrassment?
If George W. Bush had misspelled the word "advice" would you have
hammered him for it for years like Dan Quayle and potatoes as proof of
what a dunce he is?
If George W. Bush had burned 9,000 gallons of jet fuel to go plant a
single tree on Earth Day, would you have concluded he's a hypocrite?
If George W. Bush's administration had okayed Air Force One flying low
over millions of people followed by a jet fighter in downtown Manhattan
causing widespread panic, would you have wondered whether they actually
get what happened on 9-11?
If George W. Bush had failed to send relief aid to flood victims
throughout the Midwest with more people killed or made homeless than in
New Orleans, would you want it made into a major ongoing political issue
with claims of racism and incompetence?
If George W. Bush had created the position of 32 Czars who report
directly to him, bypassing the House and Senate on much of what is
happening in America, would you have approved.
If George W. Bush had ordered the firing of the CEO of a major
corporation, even though he had no constitutional authority to do so,
would you have approved?
If George W. Bush had proposed to double the national debt, which had
taken more than two centuries to accumulate, in one year, would you have
approved?
If George W. Bush had then proposed to double the debt again within 10 years, would you have approved?
So, tell me again, what is it about Obama that makes him so brilliant
and impressive? Can't think of anything? Don't worry. He's done all this
in 15 months -- so you'll have two years and nine months to come up
with an answer.

The tea party flexed its considerable muscle in Nevada Tuesday night,
transporting staunch conservative Assemblywoman Sharron Angle from
also-ran status to a stunning political upset that pundits said would
“long be remembered.”
"We have completed the first step to taking back our U.S. senate seat,"
Angle told supporters. "We need to say to Harry Reid, you have failed
and you are fired."
According to the Nevada Secretary of State, with all votes, Angle, who
barely registered a pulse in the polls before the Tea Party Express
organization endorsed her in mid-April, won with 40.09 percent of the
vote -- a much greater margin than even her supporters expected.
Sue Lowden, the one-time frontrunner and casino owner, won 26.11
percent. Real estate developer Danny Tarkanian collected 23.30 percent.
For Angle, the result marked a dramatic political resurrection. Just
eight weeks ago in a Mason-Dixon poll, just 5 percent of Nevada GOP
voters preferred Angle as their candidate to challenge Senate Majority
Leader Harry Reid in November.
Lowden led that poll with 45 percent of the vote. Tarkanian tallied 27 percent.
Although recent polls in the campaign’s waning days suggested Angle was
coming on strong, the result made a powerful impression on pundits.
“The Tea Party can take a lot of the credit for this upset,” Larry J.
Sabato of the University of Virginia Center for Politics tells Newsmax.
He added Angle’s come-from-behind victory “will be long remembered.”
Fox News reported Angle the projected winner at 12:30 Wednesday morning.
National Review editor and Fox News commentator Rich Lowry remarked: “It
wasn’t surprising given the latest polls. But in the context of two or
three weeks ago, this would have been an utter shocker.
“And I think it tells us something about the tea parties,” he added.
“The tea party doesn’t just want candidates who agree with them on the
issues. They really want an authenticity. They want someone who’s
totally outside the establishment, someone who doesn’t wreak of politics
as usual, and that’s what they have with Sharron Angle, who’s of, by,
and from the grass roots. And Harry Reid wanted to run against her --
now we’ll see if that was a good choice.”
Angle is a former teacher and five-term state representative. She
sponsored the Proposition 13 measure in Nevada that put a hard cap on
future property tax increases.
Reid is expected to portray her as an extremist out of touch with
mainstream politics. On her Web site, Angle supports closing down the
U.S. Department of Education because she considers its federal role in
education unconstitutional.
Despite her slow start, Angle’s standing in the polls rose steadily
after she won the endorsement of the Tea Party Express organization on
April 15. That endorsement is being credited with playing a key role in
her resurgence.
”We are thrilled," Levi Russell, director of communications for Tea
Party Express, tells Newsmax. "We had been hoping and working for a
victory, but honestly we're thrilled, and a little bit surprised to see
it by such a wide margin.
"We feel it's just a demonstration with what Nevada voters need and
want," he said, "and their extreme disappointment with Harry Reid by
picking someone who is his polar opposite to take his seat."
Asked to explain Angle's remarkable comeback, Russell said: "That's the
question on everybody's mind. You went from 5 percent to more than 40 in
60 days. What the endorsement did was it put Sharron on a level playing
field with the other two candidates, who had a lot of money behind
them, name recognition, star power. Sharron was the right candidate, but
did not have that star power that was needed to put her on the stage in
front of a lot of people."
Angle's momentum accelerated sharply the past two weeks, as tea party
money and manpower flooded into her campaign. She also picked up key
endorsements from the conservative FreedomWorks and Club for Growth
organizations.
Angle began the campaign with less than 10 percent name recognition, but
that had climbed to 96 percent in the week leading up to the election.
Her rapid emergence was particularly surprising given the threadbare,
shoe-string nature of her campaign. Lacking the name recognition of her
two better-heeled GOP rivals, she relied heavily on volunteers and tea
party activists to staff her campaign.
The Washington Post called her campaign “skeletal,” reporting that
Angle’s mid-May FEC filing revealed her campaign had no full-time
staffers. But tea party activists poured over $500,000 into her
campaign.
To be sure, Angle had lots of help from her main GOP rival, Lowden, who
was tripped up by a series of gaffes. At a town hall meeting in April,
Lowden suggested people try bartering with their doctors for their
healthcare needs. She later defended that remark, stating: “In the olden
days our grandparents, they would bring a chicken to the doctor.”
During the campaign, Angle was also aided indirectly by the Democratic
incumbent. Reid mounted a massive TV advertising campaign against
Lowden, based on polls that showed her to be his most formidable
opponent.
Lowden’s supporters charged that Reid was trying to manipulate the
Republican field and handpick his opponent in November. Reid, a
sharp-elbowed political infighter, is expected to see Angle’s victory as
opening the door to his re-election despite his pervasive unpopularity
in his home state based on recent polls.
“Maybe the Reid people are wrong, but they are truly delighted [with
Angle’s win],” Sabato tells Newsmax. “Because of Angle’s positions on
phasing out Social Security, ending the Dept of Education, and storing
nuclear waste in Nevada, they believe that Republicans have just given
Reid his ticket back to D.C. I believe it will be a close, tough race.
Reid is still at about 40 percent approval.”
Sabato rates the midterm contest a toss-up.
Tipping its hand as to the messaging strategy Reid will employ against
Angle in November, the Nevada Democratic Party on Tuesday labeled her
"dangerous" and "wacky."
"That will be the exact same tactic they've used on the tea party
movement since its inception," Tea Party Express' Russell tells Newsmax.
"From the beginning it was characterized as not being viable, not being
influential -- which is exactly how they painted Sharron Angle.
"The good part about it is that is absolutely what everybody expected,"
he said confidently. "They get a d-minus for creativity there. We all
anticipated that strategy and we'll be ready to dismantle it."

Why Tea Partiers Shouldn't Stomach President Obama's Pet Bank
by William J. Kelly
I toyed with the idea of calling this story, "False Cents of Security,"
but at the end of the day, playing Jenga with peoples' money just plain
isn't funny. I used to love Jenga - the game where you stack everything
up and strategically pull out various puzzle pieces trying to make sure
that they don't fall down. Unfortunately, Jenga is too much like how
the White House is playing with our economy and our future. Yep, Jenga.
It seems to us at Tea Party Reports that there are two kinds of people.
First, there are those that believe in free market capitalism, fiscal
accountability, and sound entrepreneurial ideas. We'll call this group,
"Group A". This is definitely Tea Party territory. The other group,
"Group B," appears to want to find ways to beat the system, get around
it, rig it, and, ultimately, destroy it. Group B probably doesn't like
capitalism very much, if at all. They don't really understand or
appreciate true entrepreneurs. Instead, they develop faux businesses
dependent on government manipulation of the rules, doling out no-bid
contracts, or promoting business ideas based on re-engineering people's
behavior. Maybe that is "their fun." Well, "Group B" liberals,
socialists, progressives or whatever the heck you are, lend me your ear.
Instead of pretend businesses like trying to convince people to buy
carbon offsets, can't you just sell them a hamburger, something that
people actually want? What is with all the social engineering pushing
bad economic policy like the heralded Community Reinvestment Act that
pushed the subprime loan concept to the forefront. Hooray! Super Jenga.
FOX's Glenn Beck brought some of these behavioral proclivities to light
when he dissected for a national audience the people behind Chicago's
Shore Bank and its connections to President Obama, Hillary Clinton,
Senator Dick Durbin, and its cabal of community activists, Chicago
Climate Exchange "pioneers," and progressive non-profits. Underneath it
all, Beck asks a good question: Why is it always these same culprits
that are involved and why isn't anyone calling for an investigation with
so many fraudulent practices at issue?
That is where the Tea Party movement again has come to try and save the
day. Tomorrow, Wednesday June 9th, organizers of the Chicago Tea Party
will be protesting the corrupt, politically-connected private (pseudo
public) bailout of Shore Bank. Shore Bank calls itself a "community
bank" that loans to poor communities. However, it has done much more
than that by buttressing progressive Democrat causes, non-profits,
left-wing foundations and candidates, and participates in "environmental
banking" - yes, those fashionable carbon offsets. They have been able
to skirt by when economic times are good...but the spotlight always
turns on when things are bad, doesn't it?
Shore Bank lost more than $100 million last year alone. Perhaps the
bank's strange business practices contributed. Say loans to progressive
causes, risky subprime mortgage investment losses, and excessive $10
million lines of credit to President Obama's controversial pastor, Rev.
Jeremiah Wright and you have Financial Jenga that ruins people's lives.
Government regulators had demanded earlier this year that the bank come
up with $200 million in capital funds or it would be seized. Saved by
the bell, it received $35 million in stimulus funds and another $75
million in funds from banks/financial companies that have also received
federal bailout money like Bank of America, Goldman Sachs, and GE to
name a few. Other banks like National Bank (with a strong record of
investing in poor communities), Midwest, and Bank of Lincolnwood didn't
fair as well. Why? Because they didn't have Shore Bank's political
connections. That's why.
So politically connected is Shore Bank that Chicago politicians like
Sen. Dick Durbin and Rep. Jan Schakowsky attempted the first-ever state
bailout of a bank. Why would they do that? There are some serious
questions about this that concern, in part, Rep. Schakowski's husband
Robert Creamer, who was convicted of bank fraud and tax evasion in 2006.
Apparently, Shore Bank was a part of his check kiting scheme. Rep.
Schakowski has been very public in her attempts to raise cash for the
struggling bank and avoid its seizure by federal regulators.
The whys here demand attention. Why is every powerful politician trying
to save Shore Bank? It isn't altruism - it's more likely to be
save-my-butt-ism. Chicago Tea Partiers are right to demand a full
forensic audit of Shore Bank and I will be along side of them on
Wednesday to do so.

organizer Steve Stevlic will be speaking at the protest. For information

A coalition of more than 30 mostly liberal
organizations has sent a letter to the Federal Communications Commission
urging the agency to monitor “hate speech” on talk radio and cable news
networks.
The groups assert in the letter that “hate, extremism and misinformation
have been on the rise . . . as the media has focused on Arizona’s
passage of one of the harshest pieces of anti-Latino legislation in this
country’s history.”
The organizations include the Center for Media Justice, the Rainbow Push
Coalition, the League of United Latin American Citizens, the National
Association of Latino Independent Producers, and Common Cause.
“As traditional media have become less diverse and less competitive,
they have also grown less responsible and less responsive to the
communities that they are supposed to serve,” the letter states.
“In this same atmosphere hate speech thrives, as hate has developed as a
profit-model for syndicated radio and cable television programs
masquerading as ‘news.’”
The coalition did not mention any specific media outlets.
The groups also argue that the Internet has made it more difficult for
the public to separate “the facts from bigotry masquerading as news,”
The Hill newspaper reports.
The Internet “gives the illusion that news sources have increased, but
in fact there are fewer journalists employed now than ever before,”
according to the coalition.
“Moreover, on the Internet, speakers can hide in the cloak of anonymity,
emboldened to say things that they may not say in the public eye.
“For these reasons, as the Commission deliberates how the public
interest will be served in the digital age, it should consider the
extent of hate speech in media, and its effects.”

"Why are we drilling in 5,000 feet of water in the first place? Many reasons, but this one goes unmentioned: Environmental chic has driven us out there. As production from the shallower Gulf of Mexico wells declines, we go deep (1,000 feet and more) and ultra deep (5,000 feet and more), in part because environmentalists have succeeded in rendering the Pacific and nearly all the Atlantic coast off-limits to oil production. (President Obama's tentative, selective opening of some Atlantic and offshore Alaska sites is now dead.) And of course, in the safest of all places, on land, we've had a 30-year ban on drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. So we go deep, ultra deep -- to such a technological frontier that no precedent exists for the April 20 blowout in the Gulf of Mexico." --columnist Charles Krauthammer

Issa: Sestak Affair is an Impeachable Offense
Sunday, 30 May 2010 04:35 PM Article Font Size
The Obama administration’s offer of a job to Rep. Joe Sestak in exchange
for his quitting a Senate bid is a crime and an impeachable offense, a
leading Republican told Fox News Sunday.
Rep. Darrell Issa of California also said that, as with most crimes, the cover-up may actually be worse.
The explanation for the Sestak affair -- that former President Bill
Clinton offered the Democratic congressman an unpaid position on an
advisory board if he would drop his challenge against party-switching
Pennsylvania Sen. Arlen Specter -- is simply not plausible, Issa added.
As a sitting congressman Sestak couldn't have served on a presidential
commission, Issa sad.
"It's a crime because they've admitted that they offered this position
... So that begs the real question. Do we believe this is a further
cover-up because he's -- they're now talking about a job that President
Clinton himself should have known Sestak couldn't take? " he said.
"They're now coming up with a nonplausible answer," Issa told Fox News.
On Friday, the White House revealed that Obama Chief of Staff Rahm
Emanuel had asked Clinton to talk to Sestak about a presidential
appointment if Sestak would suspend his bid for the Democratic Senate
nomination.

Conservative talk radio attacked
Late last week, Rush Limbaugh alerted his millions of
listeners to a story covered by our NewsBusters site - the Free Speech Gestapo
are boldly moving forward once again to silence conservative talk radio, and
they will say or do whatever it takes to get it done! Click here to hear what
Rush had to say.
A new "community group" -- Citizens for Civility & Accountability
in Media (CCAM) is taking aim at Fresno, California radio station KMJ for
having the nerve to carry conservative talk shows on their two stations.
According to CCAM, conservative talk radio is "hate speech" that
incites violence. They believe that conservative radio hosts "(have) been,
and can be again, a contributor to actual acts of violence perpetrated by
people urged on to extremism by the kind of programming that monopolizes KMJ's
prime-time broadcast."
Of course there is ZERO evidence for these accusations, but remember who we are
dealing with -- liberals who never let facts get in the way of their ideology.
(Just look at what's happening in Arizona: President Obama, Attorney General
Eric Holder, and Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano have made
numerous negative public comments about Arizona's new immigration law before
even taking the time to read it!)
This is precisely how the liberal elite and the media operate.
And now, with their radical agenda in danger, they understand that to maintain
power, they must silence opposing points of view!
That's why we are calling on ALL MEMBERS of our Action team to sign our Free
Speech Alliance petition right now by clicking here now!
+ + The Left's Mission is Clear
CCAM says KMJ has "a responsibility larger than making a profit. They have
the civic responsibility -- at the very least -- to not do damage to the
society that they are a part of, to promote the idea of truthful information,
respectful debate, and lawful dissent."
The folks at CCAM must be big fans of FCC diversity czar Mark Lloyd. Lloyd
wrote in 2007 that liberal activists should harass conservative stations by
filing complaints with the FCC, which could lead to fines and even the taking
away of their broadcast licenses.
It is clear that the Left are on a search and destroy mission to rid America of
conservative points of view. And if nothing is done, they will succeed ... one
step at a time. Click here now to sign our petition and fight back.
(You'll recall that just last week, we learned that President Obama's Supreme
Court nominee Elena Kagan believes that "If there is an 'overabundance' of
an idea in the absence of direct governmental action - which there well might
be when compared with some ideal state of public debate - then action
disfavoring that idea might 'un-skew', rather than skew, public
discourse." In other words, it's the government's job to
"redistribute speech.")
+ + Conservative Principles = "Hate" Speech
Make no mistake, the actions of CCAM are just the tip of the iceberg. Liberal
media voices, lawmakers, judges, and radical organizations on the Left are all
coming after us – intent on attacking and ultimately silencing conservative
voices.
Now, organizations like CCAM will insist that their efforts to censor
conservatives are good for society and will not alter the content of these
stations. But it will have a drastic impact -- and that's exactly what the Left
wants ... IF we allow it to happen!

German Chancellor Angela Merkel speaking to the
German Labor Union, said the $1 trillion bailout of Greece was a stopgap
measure that would only buy time, not answers to the debt crisis of Europe's
financial problems. European Central Bank official, Juergen Stark concurred.
Merkel
defended the bailout – which is unpopular with German voters – saying that,
"It is not only euro's stability that is at stake, but European unity as a
whole."
There
could be as much as $170 billion of American taxpayer's money flushed down
another rat hole. The world spends and sends Americans the tab. We,
nevertheless, keep plodding along, never learning from history.
If
anyone has any doubts about how World Governance and Socialism will play out
for the United States, take a good look at the European Union.
Obama
and the Progressive Democrats have repeatedly announced their intentions of
abdicating the sovereignty of our nation to global control through the United
Nations, World Bank, Climate Change Legislation, International Corporations,
and untold numbers of other liberal contrivances. Their game plan for
redistribution of our wealth applies not only in this country, but also to the
world. All of these groups are vehicles for the transportation of our money to
every country around the globe.
Entangling
financial and military alliances, and treaties with every despotic, communistic
and fascist regime in the world has led us into wars and financial ruin for as
long as we have been unwise enough to heed the words of George Washington and
Thomas Jefferson, about such entanglements. Additionally, pacts with so-called
friendly nations have also led to disastrous consequences for the United
States.
The weight
of the world is breaking the back and emptying the checkbooks of American
taxpayers. The world will soon run out of our money; no more bailouts –
anywhere!

Another pearl of wisdom from
Thomas Sowell
"One of the many shallow statements that
sound good -- if you don't stop and think about it -- is that 'at some point,
you have made enough money.' The key word in this statement, made by President
Barack Obama recently, is 'you.' There is nothing wrong with my deciding how much
money is enough for me or your deciding how much money is enough for you, but
when politicians think that they should be deciding how much money is enough
for other people, that is starting down a very slippery slope. Politicians
with the power to determine each citizen's income are no longer public
servants. They are public masters. Are we really so eaten up with envy, or so
mesmerized by rhetoric, that we are willing to sacrifice our own freedom by
giving politicians the power to decide
how much money anybody can make or keep? ... Once you buy the argument that
some segment of the citizenry should lose their rights, just because they are
envied or resented, you are putting your own rights in jeopardy -- quite aside
from undermining any moral basis for respecting
anybody's rights. You are opening the floodgates to arbitrary power. And once
you open the floodgates, you can't tell the water where to go."

Geologist: Global Cooling Has Begun
A prominent American geologist declares that global warming has
ended and “even more harmful” global cooling has already begun.
Dr. Don Easterbrook, Emeritus Professor at Western Washington University, delivered
that warning in a scientific paper he presented to the 4th International
Conference on Climate Change in Chicago on May 16.
Dr. Easterbrook said the earth has consistently shifted between
periods of warming and cooling over the course of thousands of
years.
There were cooling periods between 1880 and 1915, and between 1945
and 1977, and warming periods from 1915 to 1945 and from 1977 to 1998, according to Dr.
Easterbrook, and temperatures have been cooling since 1998.
Easterbrook is the author of eight books and 150 journal
publications. He serves as associate editor of the Geological Society of
America Bulletin, and was U.S. representative to the UNESCO [United
Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization] International
Geological Correlation Project.
He writes in his paper:
“That global warming is over, at least for a few decades, might
seem to be a relief. However, the bad news is that global cooling is
even more harmful to humans than global warming and a cause for even greater
concern.”
According to Easterbrook, a recent study showed that twice as many people are killed by
extreme cold than by extreme heat.
Global cooling will have an adverse effect on food production
because of shorter growing seasons, cooler growing seasons, and bad weather
during harvest seasons, he said.
“This is already happening in the Midwestern U.S., China, India,
and other places in the world. Hardest hit will be third world countries where
millions are already near starvation levels.”
Cooling will also lead to an increase in per capita energy demands, especially for heating.
“World population is projected to reach more than 9 billion by
2050, an increase of 50 percent,” Easterbrook pointed out. “This means a
substantial increase in demand for food and energy at a time when both are decreasing because of
the cooling climate.”
Among Dr. Easterbrook’s conclusions:
“Numerous, abrupt, short-lived warming and cooling episodes, much
more intense than recent warming/cooling, occurred during the last Ice Age, none of which
could have been caused by changes in atmospheric CO2.
“Climate changes in the geologic record show a regular pattern of
alternate warming and cooling with a 25-30-year period for the past 500 years . . .
“Expect global cooling for the next 2-3 decades that will be far
more damaging than global warming would have been.”

Former Attorney General
Edwin Meese, on Supreme Court nominee, Kagan
"First and foremost, any nominee to a lifetime appointment to the
United States Supreme Court must demonstrate a thorough fidelity to apply the
Constitution as it was written, rather than as they would like to re-write it.
Given Solicitor General Kagan's complete lack of judicial experience, and, for
that matter, very limited litigation experience, Senators must not be rushed in
their deliberative process. Because they have no prior judicial opinions to
look to, Senators must conduct a more searching inquiry to determine if Kagan
will decide cases based upon what is required by the Constitution as it
is actually written, or whether she will rule based upon her own policy
preferences. Though Ms. Kagan has not written extensively on the role of a judge, the little
she has written is troubling. In a law review article, she expressed agreement
with the idea that the Court primarily exists to look out for the 'despised and
disadvantaged.' The problem with this view -- which sounds remarkably similar to President Obama's
frequent appeals to judges ruling on grounds other than law -- is that it
allows judges to favor whichever particular client they view as 'despised and
disadvantaged.' The judiciary is not to favor any one particular group, but to secure justice
equally for all through impartial application of the Constitution and laws.
Senators should vigorously question Ms. Kagan about such statements to
determine whether she is truly committed to the rule of law. Nothing less should be expected from anyone
appointed to a life-tenured position as one of the final arbiters of justice in
our country." --former Attorney General Ed Meese
